Produced for 2 years... alot more quintessential 80's car existed longer than that. Didn't even have a digi-dash or a maroon interior or flip-ups or auto seatbelts or a turbo. None of the quintessential 80s things.

Because it wasn't really common, and it was a pretty crappy car unless it had a flux capacitor in it.

It was more a 80's cultural icon not because of the fact that is was a 80s car but becaue it was in the Back To The Future Series. It was actually pretty bad as a car.

and let me tell you - the temptation to slap fake wood grain on the sides of my Wife's current gen Outback is extreme

and speaking of subarus - I had an '84 GL wagon, a pic of one below (not the one I owned, I don't know where I might have a pic of it)



and I also owned an '88 Festiva . . . talk about a cheap box on wheels. again, not a pic of the actual car, but it was red - like most of them
