NASA and the American space program is more important even than this... because not only has it been a source of hope and future thinking for America, but also the rest of the world. NASA has been one of the greatest space programs in the entire global stage of space technology, it affects the entire world and it's future... I really hope it becomes major priority again soon (before Americans stop thinking about tomorrow entirely).

It would seem that today most of us Americans are asking what Uncle Sugar will be giving us tomorrow, not what we can create or do ourselves tomorrow.

Yep, there is a real hatred amongst the "gimme gimme crowd" for those who have made their own way as well.

If Neil deGrasse Tyson doesn't like the way our country runs, he can leave and go to another country that wants to go to the moon and Mars. Of course an astrophysicist is going to be all worked up over NASA's budget, he's speaking in his own interest, not our country's interest. No offense but we have bigger problems we need to deal with than going to the moon or Mars.

outsource our greatest minds to another country? sounds like a plan. nothing can go wrong...

having a technological gap advantage gives us a leg up against those "bigger problems." that gap has been closing precisely because "we stopped dreaming."

Like I said, he's speaking in his own interest, and trying to say that America "stopped dreaming after we landed on the Moon" which I think is utter bull**** and is a disrespectful thing to say. And NASA isn't the only government agency that has budget cuts, so he should just sit down and STFU. Our military is downsizing too and having their budgets cut and quite frankly they're more important.
