It is the fact that he does have that much more money and then lectures us about the "evils" of it and we should all live the way he does. I can't afford to take a trip to Florida, let alone travel the world and take it all of its sites.
I think the explanation of his money and travel was about how it allowed him to get stuff and then how it freed him from stuff.

It's an old message, the things that make you happy, aren't things. They are porn.

His small house point is well taken but it does mean you need to 1) chuck stuff as soon as you are done b) buy nice, long lasting stuff as soon as you need it.

$20 says he doesn't have a Costco card.

I couldn't help but think this the entire time I read it. The dude just needs to find something that makes him happy, and stop pretending that it's things.

I think that's the point - he has.

Travel, friends, freeing himself from the stress of big house etc

and being an internet bazillionaire

I mean, he's describing exactly what I've always said I want to do. If it were me, and I could make a living 100% online, I guarantee you I'd be living on about a 30' sailboat, cruising the world, and owning only what I can take along. Unfortunately, outside of cooking books for the mob, that's not really an option for an accountant.

When millionares who have the ability to use their wealth to instantly "reenter" society live outside of it and then tell the rest of us how "easy" it is I tend to not believe them.

I've been thinking about reducing my material possessions but I can't stop myself from browsing the B/S/T section...

QFT

and seriously, someone should introduce this guy to paintball and then explain how markers get lonely and need companion markers.

In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.
