Forget thoughts. Sandvik 14C28N is a custom only for Kershaw steel its been eclipsed by the 35vn steels etc. But it is one of only a few stainless steels I like better than ATS-34. It will take a scary edge & polish I have gotten my Zing to hair whittling sharp on it if you have the geometry right (i.e., no wire or rolled edges) I cut data cable with it with no noticeable degradation in performance.

bought a leek to replace my lost benchmade. i've since learned to buy cheap knives so i won't feel bad when i lose them. ideally they should be just expensive enough to not suck.

still preferred my benchmade though. the leek isn't ambidextrous

don't know why so many knives aren't. it's just drilling a few opposite holes.

You mean pocket knives can't cut sidewalk stones?? I care for my knives better than I see some people care for their kids hahahaha.

The handle on my Kilowat is getting pretty chewed up from opening beer botthes though, but its beer so its ok. The blade is sharp and well cared for, that's what's important.

Good steel that has been used to chop rocks... and for some reason Kershaw put two different opposing edge angles... makes sharpening this blade a real PIA!!!!

Some time on either a grinder or belt sander, will allow you to shape it to whatever angle suits your fancy.

If its 440c steel I say just put a half way decent edge on it and use it as a spare knife or keep it handy where you may need one. Since I have been buying better knives than I did when I was a kid I now see 440c as junk, I won't buy a 440c blade unless its something like a machete or something like that. 440c doesn't hold an edge very well, and it is hard to get really good and sharp. Maybe I am just fussy about my knife material now, but I like to have as sharp of a knife as I can. I use my knives pretty hard but always keep a good edge on them, 440c just seems like it needs to be sharpened after every use to me.

What's the big deal? It's a knife... A tool. And they're cheap.

I use the hell out of mine, and when it doesn't work anymore, I just toss it on the ground for some kid to find and enjoy.

Incorrect. Crappy, Chinese-made hunks of steel with a butter knife's edge are cheap.

Good knives are not.

Ever play with D2 tool steel? CMP D2 is even better. FYI machete's and other large blades(Khukri's) should be carbon steel for the safety of the user
