Remembering 9-11

Twelve years ago today, terrorist flew planes into the Twin Towers in New York, one into the Pentagon and another was crashed into a field in PA thanks to the very brave acts of the passengers on board.

As a citizen of the United States and a member of the Armed Forces, I ask that you take a moment out of your day to stop and remember those that lost their lives that day. I also ask that you be those of every branch from every nation still fighting overseas today.

Thank you.

343 firefighters perished. To all my brothers career or volunteer, stay safe and remember those who kept our cities safe before us.

Thank you chopper duke for posting and for serving.

Double FYI for paintball rules there should be no "offer" of surrender, its either mandatory surrender at X distance when guy is behind you or no surrender and you get shot in the booty. "offer" of surrender makes for some ridiculous and dangerous john woo tactics.

i remember turning on the tv before school, and it showed the tower on fire, and i thought it was just an action flick. i slowly realized something isn't right when there was no dialogue, the camera wasn't moving, and every channel i flipped to showed it. no reporters, no commentary, no text overlay, just the tower on fire with helicopters buzzes and police/fire truck sirens in the distance.

then i went to school thinking something important is happening and i'm going to miss it. nope, the first class the teacher just turned on the tv and we just sat there and watched it.

wow it's been 12 years?
That was a vivid day for me. Sitting at school watching the news/listening it to the radio wondering what was going to happen was surreal.

I was at work. servers were crashing because they were the only ones streaming at the time.

I left work early for lunch and sat watching the TV just not at all believing what was going on. We had family in NY and extended family in the towers. You couldn't get in touch with anyone. All circuits were busy for hours.

Surely a day that will never be forgotten

Living less then 70 miles from NYC and having family in the city made for troubling thoughts

Violence in any form is not love. Let us make sure first to learn that lesson. And then if we do nothing else, let us teach it to our children.

My family was supposed to be on a flight to France that morning....scary part is that one of their flight #s was the same as one of the planes that went down..... Took me 7 hours to find out they were fine but it was their return flight # that was the same as the plane that went down..... No way I will ever forget......

It is often said that the price of Freedom is to be ever vigilant....I also believe it has another price - to also be brave enough to never bend in the face of fear.

Thanks to all who serve and to all with the courage to stand free.
