Welding tips for college course

I start tomorrow for welding classes at my local college. We are covering all the basics, I know there are some very good welders here so I ask. Any tips for general welding, specific types, gear. Would love to get a lot of opinions

Long sleeves and cotton are your friend. You will likely be on fire at some point. Don't panic. Also wear proper welding gloves.

Fry bacon without a shirt on, welding is all about being slow and steady while ignoring randomly getting burned or set on fire.

Make sure what your welding together is clean and prepped well and, practice. That's really all it takes.

Spend tge extra money for a better mask. The features make a big difference. Also spraying pam on your work prevents splatter on stick welding

Don't weld with a lighter in your pockets. Cover exposed skin. Take time to prep. Keep area clean and organized. Second on the mask. Comfy welding gloves. Don't wear frayed jeans ( they like to catch fire).
