Other than the names and a vague generalization of the characters what exactly do the Captain America comics and the Marvel movies, Cap himself or Bucky even have in common? "Modernizing" a comic story line from WWII was not the way to go with this Cap movie the problem was they kind of painted themselves into a corner with previous released Marvel titles.

While I have enjoyed the Marvel movies for the most part I have looked at them as a general departure from the comics other than names and vague generalities derived from the characters and even then some of it isn't even close IMO.

e.g. Much like The Walking Dead or X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

This. Its a continuation from the first one. It would make zero sense to have it set in the '40s again. Unless they did an alternate/time traveling universe.

Porn is supposed to be bad. Do you really want to get lost in a plot while... Never mind, this is sometimes a family show.

I enjoyed it. I was dispaointed with the portrayal of Cap in the first film and Avengers. Really didn't seem to be too involved, or very dangerous.

He took out Iron Man in Civil War in the comics!

But yeah, as a marvel fanboy I enjoyed it. I think they did OK with Bucky considering the origin and I actually really liked how they brought the Falcon in.

I saw it yesterday and I'm not much for reading comics, but I thought it was pretty good. It is really violent, didn't expect so many fight scenes. Was almost like watching a martial arts movie. Sam Wilson was cool, the falcon was just plain stupid IMO. I liked how it developed the Captain past the cheesy, mostly one dimension character he was in the previous movies. Parts of the plot were a little simplistic, but hey, it's a comic book movie, you should go into it expected to be entertained for ~2 hours. And unless you're a nazi, you will be.
Also, the contrast between Fury's view of the world and the Captain's gives a nice mirror at the **** we have going on with the NSA/drones/all the "omg-its-big-brother" crap.

If you like super heroes, just go see it and have fun

I just got back from the movie--probably one of my favorite of Avengers series.
