| Spy Satellite shot down WASHINGTON - A missile launched from a Navy ship successfully struck a dying U.S. spy satellite passing 130 miles over the Pacific on Wednesday, a defense official said. Full details were not immediately available. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. EST.

| The missles and tracking they used are the missle defence sheild tech. Lots of talk that this wasnt a " shoot it before it hits something" but more of a "we can defend ourselves from your missles"

| It was a show all around. Yes, the fuel may have been toxic--which was their initial excuse, as I heard it--but who doesn't think the fuel would burn up as soon as it saw atmosphere? No, it's because it was a spy satellite. They don't want anyone aware of what was on it, in case it doesn't burn down to its elements. Plus, the "look what we can do" would be a bonus, intended or no.
