| MCB Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Jersey | S7G Here is something that will cheer you up! Hi, Dave I thought this would cheer you up. This is my neighbor across the street. It flies 24/7/365. He even has nice lighting for it. Steve put in a flag pole when his son joined the USAF a few years ago. His main job in the USAF is base security. He was stationed out in Wyoming for awhile. He came home for his one month leave. On my daughter's birthday, he left for Iraq. According to dad, Anthony said it was his destiny to go. His father told me about a year ago he volunteered to go over but his request was rejected. This time his request was granted. He wants it on his record for when he gets discharged. Apparently, it has something to do with getting the law enforcement type jobs. As long as the blue does not turn into a gold, I think everyone will be fine. I really do not want to see that flag go up. However, every family member has a blue star flag sticker on their work and personal vehicles. Steve is thinking about getting a flag painted on to his Harley's fuel tank. Steve told me one day that he would have never guessed that 2 of his 4 sons would be in law enforcement. He goes that is a complete 180 from what he was at their ages. The family across the street has 4 sons and a daughter. The one is with USAF and the other works for the DOC as a corrections officer. ![]() Side note. The Us flag is new. You would have a conniption fit in January since we had a few bad storms in a row which destroyed the flag. (yes the flag was properly destroyed.) It took about a week to get the proper new one and get the old one down since it froze to the pole. He orders the flag from a company here in NJ that makes them. They were on back order for that size! Also I used the S5 IS for the picture. I also had to wait for it to clear up a bit and get windy to get the flags extended. Of course they are blowing the wrong way on the pole but that is the direction from most of the wind comes from in the area. have a good one and anyone please comment. shaggy

| MCB Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Jersey | Hi, I told my neighbor about my post. He said that it was pretty cool. Him and his family are always taking pictures since they are always blowing in the wind. As we were talking I mentioned the fact about his torn flag. He said some person left a message on his car about the flag setup. The guy went into about being in the service and the torn flag was disrespect and he should be ashamed to be flying the flag and so forth. My neighbor said it was really wacked how the letter was. He wished he had the chance to respond to him. As my neighbor said, "look up and down the street. Do you see anyone else who is flying any flag?" As for the flags. US Flag 4 by 6 Blue star 3 by 5 USAF 2 by 3 His son has not left the country yet. Steve said a few more weeks then he will be deployed. Him and his wife do not want to know what his is about to do. I think I know due to a friend's step son who came back about a year ago. He too was in the USAF security force. very cool, shaggy

| MCB Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Jersey | Hi, Thanks for the offer for money. I thought it was funny though this person would leave a message like that on my neighbor's car of all things. The guy didn't even have the balls to ring the doorbell since someone in the family is always home. The guy was probably thinking the road is a short cut around the main highway which many people do. Then he saw the flag. I think the cops know the house as the flag house. Don't get me wrong but I do not think Steve would accept the money. He is very proud about the whole flag thing. I think the issue was the flag was just not in stock. He only uses the place for the flag since the flag is very high quality. He has no problem paying for it out of pocket at any time. Quite frankly and if anything, many public places have torn or faded out flags. That is a shame right there. Me on the other hand, I leave my flag out on the holidays only. I would not keep it out side due to it's quality. Us made flag that feels so cheap that it was probably made in China only packaged in the US. So word to the wise, do not visit Lowe's or Home Depot for flags. Come to think of it but our neighborhood seems to get alot of weirdos every so often. My cousin who live next door gets this crazy old, smoke smelling with red hair woman that comes to the door and says here some food. My cousin thinks she is a junkie wants drugs because of the last tenants. She might have not gotten the memo they moved out. It is just messed up. Since I live at the top of the street and on a corner, many drunks think our street is a "work around" from the main highway at the bottom. (cop city and 50MPH suggested speed limit. Most do way more than that by the side of a lake no less.) They drive though the new development right behind my neighbor's house. However, they really never finished the other side on the one road so it is really no cut through for a good distance. You have to stay on the Highway for the most part. You can always tell who the drunks are since the street is pretty much dead 24 hours. Very little traffic for the most part and it is people who live in the area. Being unemployed has its advantages. I know who is coming and who is going. It is also strange in the fact that everyone at the top of hill is home during the day at some point. One is a stay at home mom, the other 2 are contractors. Back to the subject, I think it is pretty freakin' cool to walk out the front door and that is what I see everyday. I think Steve said the whole pole set up was around $450 bucks a few years back. I looks like a 20 foot pole. He is going to find an Eagle for the top of it come the spring. Since one of the sons is a landscaper, he brought over some equipment for the install. Hell maybe once things get going again, I might throw a pole up myself. Then the neighborhood might not be so lonely. Later, shaggy
