| Now rockin' the Dux! Join Date: Sep 2006 | ^^^ That RIGHT THERE is the "BFD." I don't give a hairy rat's arse if you smoke weed. BUT I DO NOT WANT IT IN MY THREAD. For two reasons: First, this is not a weed thread. It's a tobacco thread. Posting your herb habits is spam in this thread. Secondly, discussion of such will lead to responses very similar to yours, and in consequence, like my response to your response. I do NOT want this to become the inevitable argument discussion of marijuana will become. This is for those interested in the legal smoking of tobaccos, preferred tobaccos, various techniques for smoking those tobaccos and equipment used to smoke said tobaccos, and thus far, it has been a successful discussion of such, and I'm sure many of us would like to keep it that way. Am I safe to assume the mods agree with me on this? I would apologize if I felt my response is too harsh, but as it sits "BFD" was not the right phrase to use to insinuate or instigate a peaceful argument. |

| Rec Poster Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Valley Forge | Sorry for jumping on you DeTrevni ! Its only natural to assume what they're used for. But its not just 16 year olds who buy them only as an instrument to use. Theres alot of collectors , many of them well into their 40s and 50s who collect glass pipes. Some collect just functional glass and alot of people collect them as part of their obsession of all things glass. Regardless , I started poo flinging , my apologies. And I too would not want to see this thread offtrack with talk of illicit substances. Thats not why were here. So , really , it is no "bfd" but this isnt the thread for it. However , I love pipes. Just not pipe tobacco. I smoke cigars on occasion. Thompsoncigar.com has been delivered to my house for years But I appreciate the pipe form , its what drew me to tobacco usage. Old sherlock and corncob shaped pipes were always fascinating to me. The smells of the tobacco too are unrivaled. I just cant take it in my lungs and after going through hell to give up cigarettes , I lean more towards tobacco I dont have to inhale (for one reason or another). So most of those pipes stay clean , and will throughout their existence. I have used a few just to say I did. I hope more tobacco smokers get into functional glass. They are , after all , completely unique. You will never see two of the same pieces of glass that look completely alike. Thats certain.

I agree, You have the freedom of choise if you want to smoke that crap. I know I did it as a teenager, but we also have the choise not to hear about it. Also it is against the law. So if you talk about it on hear I know there a few Police officers that play paintball. Could also Be a few on here. People don't realise that when they post stuff like that on the internet that their IP is logged. and Their address is so easy to find. I know that not eveyone on the internet is a computor wizkid espsaily if he is a dopehead so he won't be routeing thru multible servers. Just my thoughts. edm

| Now rockin' the Dux! Join Date: Sep 2006 | Wood: Break out the pipes, as they are NOT meant to be inhaled! Heck, inhaling pure, unfiltered pipe tobacco will really do damage to your lungs! Pipe smoking is very similar to cigar smoking. The smoke is supposed to be rolled around your mouth and the nicotine is absorbed through your gums. Doesn't sound much better, but all things in moderation. |

I just wear a tin foil hat and tin foil thong. Then the government can find me or reach me with their brainwash signals. The thong protects against the governments plot to sterilize all humans. ![]() Can we get back on topic of tobaccana now that Barry Mcaffrey has had his say ? ![]()

Hmm , maybe I should stop at the smoke shop after work and pick up some flavors. Any suggestions for a beginner ?

| Ultimate Battle Monkey Z | "English" blends tend toward a more "spicy" smoke, and "Oriental" blends tend toward a "heavier" flavor. Something that is multiple colors is likely a smoother smoke than something that is all the same color. Smell in the jar doesn't really have a whole lot to do with taste of the smoke, but it's a fair indicator of if you'll like it or not. Personally I stay away from anything that promises a fruit flavor because of past dissapointment (see, "smell in the jar doesn't really have a whole lot to do with the taste of the smoke"). Darker, richer blends often smoke rather hot due to some of the additives. Let your nose be your guide, but buy several small samples instead of a big bag of something that may smell great but not smoke so good. That's all I can really think of off the top of my head. If you have a collolectors personality, (which I think you do, given your glass purchases) there is a wealth of info about the different blends, what tobaccos go into them, for what reason etc., that can really be some fun research.
