You're not far off there. There's much less leverage on ice than on ground, that's why you don't see many guys who fight get more than a cut or a busted tooth. Solid ground changes everything.

These guys aren't joking. The heavy weights are weighing in at 250, and can swing for the fences...

As to the physics, don't forget they are holding onto each-others jerseys.

Ayway, I think most of the fights end without serious injury due to glancing blows off the back of the head...
