| Korean astronaunt said she was "really scared," so what? I was reading google headlines and it said she describes the frightening re-entry. But all she said was there were fires outside the window but she realized it's cool inside the vehicle and her associates were calm so she tried to calm down too. You can read about it on google. What is the big deal? I've seen first person view of space shuttle re-entries and they had fire (plasma?) outside the window too. As far as I know the capsule was only off course, not damaged or anything. I think the news sites might be just using this opportunity to brainwash people about the skewed views of 1) how feminine and in need of a prince charming Asian girls are and 2) how "****ty" Russian gear is supposed to be. Am I missing something? I understand it's her first time in space and whatnot, but why is it that every news site talks only about how "scary" she said re-entry is, and pretty much nothing else? I can imagine every astronaunt's first re-entry could be scary. On top of that it's rarer to find news about her 2 co-workers describing the experience, so she's singled out for some reason. |

| Maybe she realized that if she died during landing no one would know where she buried the kimchi on the space station.

| I think that she was worried because they were: doing their re-entry at a steeper angle of decent then prescribed, at a faster velocity, were off course, and their parachute ended up catching on fire. I'd be pretty scared too. |

As far as the chute burning or not, I'm not sure I buy that, chutes typically don't deploy until you're well below the point where they'd burn. Also, even if the chute did ignite, I don't think you can see it from inside the capsule. Soyouz capsules aren't pretty, but they work and are reasonably cheap. Why do you think the new CEV system is based around a capsule system? It's fugly and inelegant, but functional and relatively light. | |

| Us humans have had it beeten into our brains since the dawn of time that fire = bad for most cases. So being in that situation, and seeing flames all around you.. yeah, its scary.
