Just to revive this with a bit of a different twist.

What about an unbreakable umbrella that you could club someone to death with.

The Unbreakable Walking-Stick Umbrella

So, if you wanted to conceal a sword in a cane, you'd have to dress like Huggy Bear or work on limping around like Dr. House. Otherwise everybody is gonna know what you've got going on in that cane.
There's a company that specializes in making composite and carbon fiber weapons. They make a straight cane that has a stainless steel knob and a carbon fiber shaft. It's a nice little poking stick used normally like a cane but will break bone if used as a weapon. At the knob I'd say it's OD is 3/4" and it's walls are roughly 3/16" thick. I'm still trying to find the company that makes them. Not to be confused with the Cold Steel sword cane that has a carbon fiber shaft, but they look very similar.

I laugh about all the serious swordsmen here critiquing ppl like me that bought a stainless replica, who gives a wholy hell about combat readiness, the reason for buying it is if someone is in my house my 328 lbs of bone white and underoos swinging a freaking samuri sword should put the fear of God into most criminals, plus it only has to be sharp enough to get through their skin about 5 times, and if it breaks off inside em, well at least the cops can identify the crook at the hospitial easily

Not carbon fiber, but close to what you describe: CITY STICK
