Boy do things get heavy when your away from the computor. I am not in School, I'm 49 years old have been working on vehicles since I was old enough to hand my Dad wrenches, lol. I have used seafoam in older vehicles after a long storage period. but never on a daily driver. Change your oil on a reg basis and use the spesfied weight of oil. I agree that ASE tests don't mean your can repair vehicles. some of the time it just means you test well. They are multible guess formate that usally state a problem then the awnsers are...

A. mech #1 says this
B. mech #2 says this
C. both A&B
D. Neither A or B

I guess I have my own opinion of additives but this comes from experiance. I don't thump my chest about the ASE certs. I'm pround I have them because I take the time to go take them. many don't and many say they can work on your, but you pay your money then rip you off. Then it's the guy who charges more or works at the Dealership that has to follow up after them and fix their mistakes, then repair your car. I get paid extra for haveing my certs, buts that's not the biggest reson to have them. I work at Chrysler and have to have them as part of the Certifcatin process thru Chrysler.
end rant

by the way do you know the diirence between Doctors and Mechanics

Doctors get to bury their mistakes, Mechanics have to fix theirs.

BTw, sorry about the chest thumping thing..

Been crazy week for me, was more irked about the other commentary about how I wouldn't know anything, since I dind't say I was certified, and I projected it onto a post in response to yours.

Your history sounds alot like mine, worked on cars since I was tiny, my dad bough a junk car when I was 8, and made me take it totally apart one summer, bit by bit, so he could show me what it all did and how it worked.

I was doing the family tune ups and oil changes since I was 8 or 10, since my dad was pretty busy, and was a traveling preacher, and needed this stuff done, but didn't have the time.

Spent a few years being a mechanic, found out computer fixing paid better, and kept my hands cleaner, and better than that, I can save my wrenching for MY stuff, not someone els'es.

34 years old now, not that much younger than you.

Sounds like we have more in common than not..
