Tornado Warning

Well I'm sitting here in Va. Under Tornado watch. So I guess a few others are in my shoes. Dammit just what I need. Well I have an evac pac ready to go just incase.

You get used to it. Seems like we are under a tornado watch or warning once a week in TN. Been this way since I was a kid. We don't get excited until there is a warning for our specific location.

I used to live in the tornado corridor in Ohio.

Don't get weirded out until the sky turns greenish.

Which is funny as some of us who live in DC are driving to Pittsburg to play paintball.

We get them here too, but we don`t get hammered as often as you do in Florida. Since Blackrain is within 25 minutes of me I guess I am under the watch too.

I grew up in Southwestern Virginia and only once did we have a tornado watch or warning. Funny thing was that one time I was a little kid (younger than 10 I think) and mom was driving me to swim practice despite the rain. Well, it turned REALLY nasty during that < 10min trip and when the thunder and lightning started up she turned around, but we were going to the drug store (locally owned pharmacy) so I could get a limeaid. Normally it would be bright summer daylight but the sky was so thick that it was like late night, except that the sky was a dark, dark green. Power went out as we were driving home.

Turned out a funnel cloud had come very VERY close to touching down, but didn't have the strength to reach the ground entirely.

That was the only time my area of VA saw a tornado while I was growing up.

Was under tornado watch/warning twice in the midwest in '04: in Dayton before the CPPA national gathering, and on saturday night at D-Day '04 (vendor area was WRECKED b/c the tornado nearl touched down).
