He was ticketed many times in Clearwater for speeding(one was 90 in a 30) and doing burnouts with his car...I think the Judge looked at the big picture....His sponsors were looking into dropping him because of his run-ins with law enforcement all the time....

The divorce made more news here in Jax. I guess I am still used to miami where this **** happens all the time. I still can't recall any sentences like this though. This is something that is usually for a repeat offender. Either way it sucks for everyone involved. I still can't believe the guy wasn't wearing his seat belt. I'll talk to some of my lawyer friends and see what they think.

Some talk about the divorce is a way hide the money because the lawsuit....

Legal speak around...is that the passenger should be at some fault and this would reduce the amount of the lawsuit awarded...

Like breaking the law by not wearing a seatbelt or being a mature veteran and stopping any one of the illegal activities leading up to and causing the accident?

well i sure hope drivers aren't blamed for passenger's decision to not wear seat belts.

You know this will come up first with the defense team....and yes the passenger will be blamed also by the defense team for not wearing the seatbelt...the out come to be played out in civil court...

Wait a second I used to live in Florida and if I am not misremembering in the state of Florida if the passenger is over the age of 18 any ticket for lack of wearing a seatbelt is the passengers responsibility not the drivers.

Now I have been out of FL for about 8 years now so I may be wrong but I do believe that if I am right if the passenger is legally an adult and they choose not to buckle up the driver is not accountable. Then again they could of changed the law since I was driving in FL back in 99.

He was driving drunk and got someone permanently injured. Not enough jail time. I dont care who let him do what, or who wasnt wearing a seatbelt. He made a choice, it was a very stupid one, and someone paid the concequences.

Ive been drunk a few times in my life, and could of drove, but I didnt. Maybe i can make a better call in that sate, and maybe I have better friends.
