i didn't see the title and don't know about it but what's done is done and you've made note of your mistake. if people can't deal with that, they must have bigger issues and should worry about them instead of something they read on the internet.

I didn't see the original thread, but wow that kid's got a lot of talent. Reminds me of a young Michael Hedges.

Way to follow up ignorance with ignorance. Race and culture are not the same thing.

And it's not even a valid point to try to make. Natural talent transcends culture, race and geography. You could practice fastidiously in any country, in any culture, and still not be as good as a natural musician who never practices; this applies to any number of different human endeavors.

The more accurate comment would be, "I hate musical prodigies, they are better than me." To which the general response is, "Duh." Bringing race into it is unnecessary and just asking for trouble.

wow... did i mention race in there, at all?

no.

You are really showing your level of cultural exposure there.

Y'know, I can tell you, right now, that it doesn't matter what color your skin is, if you grow up in one of the aforementioned cultures, you usually develop at least some traits of that culture, even regionally. It has nothing to do with genetic traits or the color of one's skin.

I personally know several white koreans and more than a few black englishmen and a few asian south americans. They all show traits of the cultures they grew up in, not the traits that the color of their skin would suggest.

The next time you want to accuse someone of ignorance or racism, get your facts straight. I for one, will not tolerate such blind accusations.

Your post was in response to mine, so yes you were talking about race. If you were not, then you should not have replied to my post. If you cannot tell the difference, then that is exactly my point.

Get YOUR facts straight. The problem with the original comment was that it WAS about race. The OP has stated that clearly in this thread.

EDIT Note that I have not taken a side, becase Im shure both sides will jump all over me

It's getting there, IMO.
WT seems to think 'Nationalism' or 'culturalism' has a more logical basis than 'racism'.

Good thing Mojo Myles didn't get the message that his culture means he has to underperform.

Mojo Myles still on the road at 12

and good ole american music too? SWEET!

DRG gets my only 100% vote so far.

Like it or not all stereotypes are based on some fact and are not necessarily racism, depending on your definition of that term.

Yeah I'm going to say this should be closed. It's gone from an apology to two members arguing about race.

I'm South Korean. I could and would be justified in taking offense to detrevni's thread title.

I don't see how Walking Target can possibly believe that the OP was justified in any way to say that "asians are better because they just so happen to have a child prodigy at guitar." I could just as easily say I hate white people because they had Mozart....

Yes I would like this closed. Why? Because it just pits people at odds with each other over an issue. Would I like to be discussed? Sure, but obviously there isn't enough maturity on this internet board to discuss this without resorting to finger pointing and name calling.

Edit:
For the record I do want to state that I was not offended and I am glad that Detrevni posted that video. Regardless of how the community received it, I was very glad I got to see that kid play guitar, he is amazing.
