| Seasoned Member | Holy christ. I am building a computer soon, and going to run it on Vista. 450mb just on the desktop? Wow. I was only going to go with 1gb or RAM. Bett bump it up to 2gb now. Maybe more, depending on what I can fit on the mobo.

| The Brown Guy! | I would definately bump that RAM up there komodo. When I buy my lappy, it will be running 2GB of ram, no doubt. I have been playing on a compy with Vista on it for a little bit, in fact, thats what I'm on right now. The only problem I see is system slowdown, and with the tabbed browsing, occasionally, my streaming music will cut out.... could be the website, but hell, I'm not sure.

| I found that the power options for a laptop makes audio and video very jerky if you dont set it to performance. It took about 5 hours of mostly just the comp working today to upgrade from XPSP2 to RC1. This way I could see what all programs wont work, and so far I only have issues with the new Dave Ramsey finacial software I got and the home brew games I got form Japan. (Oh, and if you have anything even a folder labled Symantec on your machine, Vista refuses to install. I kinda like that! *grumbles* stupid OEMs and Norton...)

| The Brown Guy! | Man, that Symantec crap is, well, crap! I hate working on peoples' computers when they think they are 'safe' by using norton, that program just bogs the crap out of a computer! People should just get AV software like... AVG, I use that, and it is really good.

| using avg as well. The computer came with a bunch of Symantec crap pre-installed, and was so bogged down it took 2 hours to remove it with the stock load of 256mb or ram... *shudders*

Vista is a memory hog. But even XP was called a memory hog at the time of its release requiring at least 128 megs to run (512megs to run more then 1 program at a time though!). Memory hog of yesterday is todays standard. Besides, with most decent notebooks being sold and will be sold when vista comes out will be having at least 1gig of ram, so it should not be an issue. | |
