Wow.

I have seen big wave footage like that before, but it always gets me when I see it. I just can't imagine being run down by a wave like that. If you don't do things right you will find out how very small we humans are.....

They call it "The Wash Cycle" when it goes bad.... some of the footage of guys taking a wave to the head is just insane.

When the video panned out, I was thinking.. nah he aint gonna make the drop...

What interesting is that usually the guys who surf places like jaws know what their doing enough not to get killed. More deaths usually occur at places like Pipeline on the north shore of oahu. Big waves don't usually kill people... shallow waves kill people.

YEah it's the raking the reef in a shallow wave that gets people... of course there is always Mavericks...Mark Foo died there... and that starts as a pretty deep wave.

Hawaii is crazzy because it has several reefs with breaks.. Jaws is way out, like a third reef off the island.. the water hits that reef, jacks up... and then there is just sand for a ways... some day I'm going to Wiamea to surf!
