Never really cared for the water cooled VW's, but the GTI has always, umm, excited me as a piece of hardware.

No harb, thats the neighbors spread. Mine is straight back from the car. You will be seeing it soon enough. Really nice house for sale on next block dude. You need to get yo azz outta jax.....and Camodeafie sorry but my Gti has about 100 horses on your Bimmer. I'll take the 100 horses and you can keep the extra 5 mpg.

The window sticker is pretty conservative btw. I am getting around 24/25 city and 32-35 highway on averge. ME HAPPY!!!!!!!!!

Nice, I love VWs. I'd buy a TDI Golf in an instant if there was a Volkswagen mechanic up here. Sadly, there isn't, and if there's one weaknesses about them, it's that the Germans make their cars too good and, therefore, are way too easy for a lot of mechanics to screw up. And, unless there's some secret VW mechanics up here I don't know about, I wouldn't trust any of them with one on the off chance it does need fixing.

Lol I have the opportunity to buy one for $900 in good condition...... so yeah. ^-^ unfortunately, lack of job=me needing a cheap car that does better mpg than my GP.

Were money no object, or were I able to afford something in the 10K range for cost, I'd definitely look into the newer VWs, specifically the TDIs

The new tdi`s are supposed to be released next month. Supposedly they have taken care of the timing belt issue that made you change them every 40k miles. I am averaging 42-50mpg in my tdi depending on I how fast I drive.
