News Kind of tragic that their home range is being gobbled up by deforestation... but very interesting that these people have existed seperate from human contact with the civilized world. E

On a lighter note, my Anthro professor had spend a few years in the Amazon jungle, doing research. She had noted that the jungle was so dense, that uncontacted tribes were everywhere. They really only get "contacted" when the jungle is chopped down to grow sugarcane for "Biofuel". Damn hippies. Her biggest problems were fighting with the missionaries, who wanted to change them, while she wanted them to stay the same. Hopefully this "find" is not a hoax, like so many others though

Not stupid though. The comment was a reference to a divide amoung environmentalists. Some enviromentalists are strongly against the Brazillian destruction of its jungles, because those trees produce oxygen. Farms are not biodiverse, and future medical and biological discoveries might be lost forever. Some environmentalists are strongly FOR the use of biofuel in Brazil, which comes from the destruction of the jungles. Brazil is a poster child for biofuel since nearly the entire country uses renewable ethanol, not gasoline. It is, by some estimates, the "Greenest" country on the earth. So.... damn hippies. nick
