Ever dig a hole and find a tank?

World War 2 US tank buried under French road | The Daily Telegraph

From Fark, the title that was posted almost made me cry I was laughing so hard.

Actually I did find a buried tank once... and several other small plastic soldiers I had buried when I was 10 or so....

The Vietnamese were famous for burying tanks!

I would honestly think they would remember that they burried a tank under the ground. i would think they would also find a beter place to hide a tank. It is kind of obvious, think about it. a lump in the middle of the road where the pavement has appearently been ripped up.

what if the road wasnt paved? and if it went this long undiscovered I doubt there was any hump. Honestly, one sherman out of a whole mess of em while trying to push the germans out of france I dont think it would be too easy to misplace a couple. What I wonder is why it was buried, if it was being abandoned due to damage it would have just been dragged to the side of the road.

anyone ever hear the story bout a russian lady that had a 500 pound bomb land in her bedroom and not go off, and when she told the government about it they just thought she was trying to get a free apartment and she lived like 45 years with the bomb under her bed.

even if the road wasn't paved, the top soil would be a differant color. and there would also be a hump. I am talking about right after they burried it, not to this day. Or within the time span the nazi's came to the town. And i am guessing that it was burried because the french in that town must have been planing to use it some way or the other, because if the nazie's found a perfectly good tank in the middle of the road, they would probobly do 2 things, first, move it to the side of the road, then later, they would investigate and if they felt like it, they would drape a nazi flag on the front and use it them selfs, happened all the time with the russian tanks, how ever germany did make the largest tanks in existance during the war, so mabey a tank this small would not fit what they prefer any way.
