I am happy with this ruling on face value that an outright ban is unconstitutional. However, I don't expect this to change much outside of the most draconian regulations in places like DC and perhaps Chicago.

I'm much more concerned with the regulations concerning carry on federal land. I think it is ridiculous that I may carry a pistol anywhere in my state except the wilderness areas under federal control. It is confusing and a gross violation of states' rights.

in PA the state parks disallow carry, although we are working on that, just need fast Eddie to sign......

IN DC you should be able to have a shotgun at home.

A little more here:

Supreme Court finds individual right to own guns | Reuters

"Writing the court's majority opinion, Justice Antonin Scalia said the Second Amendment protected an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."

That still must be a state law... In NH, I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to take a gun anywhere, except in a court house.

That's the only place NH has them prohibited in a blanket statement sense.

I was thinking more along the lines of states passing laws that effect interstate commerce. Certain areas are designated for the Feds, but not many.

Hey Painthappy! You have anything on the minority opinion?

Just curious what they presented as their POV towards their decent.

Sure it doesn`t affect the politicians and gang bangers. Sorry if you don`t fit into any of those categories, but hopefully it will eventually change.
