Supreme Court Finally OK's Gun Rights

Supreme Court Wire

I've been pretty irritated by how corrupt and useless Washington has been for, well, a very long time.

But today, I am proud of our Government, if only a tiny bit.

Oddly, I don't own any guns, but feel the need to buy one now.

Hmmmm .... State Laws still trump federal laws if more strict, correct? Looks like this one won't do me any good in NY... or those folks living in NJ either.

That's a very good question. DC had the most strict gun control laws in the country, and those got struck down.... I sense more lawsuits coming...

Good news... Doesn't change any of the overly strict states, but does say that you can't have an outright ban on possession of them.

not necessarily, but in the case of gun rights your statement seems to fit.

Yeah NY and NYC do not make it impossible to own guns, but in some areas there are lots of hoops to jump through in addition to loooong waiting periods. That was one of the reasons I sold my guns before coming up here. Some counties require establishing residency before they will give you an application for a pistol permit... so you have to wait a year.. then go through the process.

We'll see where this goes but I highly doubt it will affect NY's laws (which include the original AWB in full form...still)

It's hard for me to believe that this was the first significant ruling on the 2nd Amendment. 5-4... it couldn't have been any closer.

ScrapIron... on a side note... state environmental laws also trump federal laws if more strict.
