yeah, they have a top speed of 90mph too. So lets say they get 40mpg....
what mpg to they get at 75-80mph?
probably 30ish, close to the car I have already.

air powered would be neat though.... I still think the BIG trucks with all the space they have and need across the nation is where we need to start first.....

The rigs eat SOOO much diesel...lets get them air, nuclear, syngas, something......

Yes, you'll be perfectly safe inside your tiny car when a semi hits you and launches you into low orbit...

They really don't get 50mpg? What's the mileage? Doesn't seem much point to a car that small if it isn't getting at least 50mpgs...

They get in the 30's... which is what a basic Civic will get you. They are neat, we have a friend who has one. The other day we went to the movies, and I was able to park in the same space as him (bike +smart car = almost full car)

Yeah, I drive a 00 civic that gets thirty+. And for the life of me, I can't possibly understand why someone would buy a smartcar instead of a much larger(but still small) honda that gets nearly the same mileage...

I have a large Deville....I get 27 mpg anytime, anywhere.....If they come out with something that at least doubles that and has some size to it...I'm game...My trucks on the other hand are killing me at the pump.....

they use utility versions of these in large warehouses to keep indoor smog down.

From the show I saw on them, the carbon fiber tank was the size of a 100lbs Co2 tank.

I like how they have to show radically designed concepts to get people interested, when the looks has nothing to do with the power source.

Don't know the PSI but imagine putting 3 in 1 oil in one of these tanks.

The SmartCars are cheaper then a Civic, but still. Other subcompacts like the Fit and the Yaris get the same mileage and twice the space-for the same cost!

The problem with the SC is that their engine is *too* small. They used to have a diesel version in NA that got 60+, but that dissapeared for some reason. A guy at work owns one and I've taken a few rides in it. On a side note, they are surprisingly capable in deep snow-they don't fishtail at all, since there's no weight difference.
