So I'm sure most of us here have been through this game just like anyone else who has been online for long enough. Yeah, har har, it's good for an easy laugh, but what I've found disturbing is that so many parents do it to their kids... and they post the reaction online: YouTube - 2 year old scared by maze I mean, those kids are just kids, most of them young enough to trust a parent unconditionally. It's true that the parents earned some entertainment through the daily dose of diaper change etc, but the parents kinda asked for it when they did the deed in bed. I don't think anyone under 10 deserves to go through this crap. I mean, one or 2 screwball parents is expected, but the sheer number of them astounds me. Of course, the actual number of parents doing this has got to be even more than the number of parents who did it and then post it online. Those kids are so traumatized I can totally see intentionally horrible retirement homes having a market.... ![]() Yeah, that's one thing I won't do to my future kids... It'll probably never happen, but I think people should go through intense parenting classes before being allowed to have kids. Potential parents may argue about how it's unconstitutional, but I'd say it is mandatory for the right of the child's pursuit for happiness... isn't that one of the reasons this land was made anyway? and that's not a right but i think it should be. |

The sound is startling because I had my speakers entirely too loud, but the image... I just don't get it. Not scary even when blasted at you. Maybe I've just been on the internet too long. Honestly I doubt that the kid in the video will have any recollection of it ever happening. I know my niece had the attention span of a goldfish when she was two. Hell she couldn't seem to remember how gravity worked and that's present constantly, 24/7. That's not to say that I don't agree with you about parenting classes. I just don't think mandatory is the way to go. You'd have to find a way to make people want to go or the people that need it most will gain nothing from it. Making something like that mandatory will almost certainly lead to it being ignored by the people who need it most.

Scaring the crap out of my boy would be a bad idea, I would have to deal with it later that night. I see these on the internet and think what kind of a goofball would do that to their child. That said, my son and I break out in kung-fu kicks anytime we think the other is preoccupied. My boy goes to school on Monday and shows off his welts from the weekend game. I bet those maze-scare parents would look at me funny. |

I think mandatory classes would be great. Any ***hole can become a parent on one shot, but you have to be tested for a driver's licence. We have all sorts of regulations for everything in this world except for parenting. You want to make people go to the classes give them a one month grace after a child is born, start keeping their income tax until they appear for classes.

After some of the stupid crap they told us in childbirth classes, I wouldn't want to have ANY parenting class be mandatory... The sheer idiocy of some of what passes for "modern parenting" appalls me. That all being said, seeing a cute 2-year old girl freaked out like that by her giggling redneck mother makes me want to punch mom in the face. OOOOoo, you're so smart, you outwitted a 2-year old who depends on you to explain the world. Wow, what a lot of intelligence that took.

(And no, that's not a racial statement, nor a statement about a particular socio-economic class either. Some people are just jerks and it seems like they desperately try to instill the same values on their offspring.)
