Another reason why I won't live in Texas

While I am sure this is happening in most place,it just adds another reason for me to never return back to Texas to live.

Good Morning Yahoo!

Actually Texas has the balls to confront it... Massachusetts has a huge problem with it, and after numerous stings, complaints, and busts they've done nothing to stop a local Mobile Franchise from gouging money away from innocent consumers.

Now Jersey, there's a place I wouldn't wanna live. If it's not dirt, crime, drugs, or crackheads, it's ninjas.

*PS: love how they say "crossbow" when it's clearly a $20 Wallmart brand-x 35lb compound bow :rolleyes

stations here in St.Catharines were caught cutting the gas by more than 50% with water.
go fig.
it was only when a guy filled up and his car wouldn't run that these people were caught.

I love this.

When are we simply going to figure out that if you have oil or gas anywhere near your business - you are a crooked, gouging, mother scratcher.

I love that gas is as high as it has ever been - but we can't figure out WHY Exxon made record profits every quarter for the last years.

I am all for profits - but when price fixing and unfair practices lead to gouging - something needs to be done.

Unfortunately the invisible hand of capitalism requires that those in business be fair - when they are not - it WILL lead to governmental intervention.

Ummm

Maybe the higest demand in history has something to do with the profits.

And when we're talking about price gouging...

The govenrnment gets over 3 times as much profit from taxes on every dollar paid for gas than Exxon/Mobile does. So who is it that's gouging us again??

I think the question is who isn't gouging us?

The gas taxes are very true.

I am not sure if we can say, however, that at 13.5 Billion profits in a QUARTER can be achieved without inflated prices at the pump. The problem is that the invisible hand is not able to work when there isn't enough competition at the oil processing level.

Trust me - I am not making some socialist argument - I think what I am saying is that as more mergers and corporations buy each other and consolidate - true capitalism is in danger.

No, that's not the issue. The issue is people sayin "$3.89 per gallon, and I just pumped 18 gallons into your tank" when they've in fact only pumped 16, or have charged $3.95 instead without telling you. It's the same as if you went to buy a gallon of milk, and got a 3/4 gallon of milk and water instead.

It's not the fact that it's gas that's an issue, it's that people aren't getting what they pay for.

Meh. Most of europe has been paying the equivalent of $8 a gallon since the '50s; we're lucky it's been cheap for thusfar... I mean, considering the average growth of prices on things like cigarettes, milk, bread, clothing, etc. gas has been pretty cheap overall, at least until recent years (like the last 4-6?).

Exactly. I want to know why the state governments are crying poor when they are getting an influx as well...

The oil company profit arguement is a sham, considering that more than 50% of the supposed "profit" is reinvested into new tech, infastructure and exploration.

Anyways if you can't do simple precentages math your don't know what your talking about. If Exxon makes 3% at $50 a barrel and then Opec and stock market speculators run up the price to $140 and Exxon still works on a 3% profit structure won't they increase their profits???

Or should they cut profits just to make everyone feel better for warm fuzzy's and say to hell with proper buisness practice. Any ways they have stoped making record profits since demand went down this summer with fuel so high no one's doing unnecessary driving.

Just go look at real math and not some Libtards retoric.
