The f15 is an awesome airframe, it has never lost an air to air engagement in combat. The new f22 can beat them in simulated combat at a 4 to 1 ratio, it is safe to say we are the dominant air power in the world.

Just saw the video and have to re-state ... power = lift.

Another fact about the newest F-15... because of their new avionics suite, they can fly at approximately 25 mph (land speed) . I have seen this done and it absolutely amazing.

Basically the pilot puts the nose up and just burns a track in the tarmac with both engines..... the computer compensates and keeps the plane in "level" flight across the ground. The plane is not 90 degrees to the ground... but you wild think it would be well past normal stall level for that speed. Craziness!

In response to DS.... The A-10 can take a lot of abuse also... I have seen pictures of one that came back from a mission in the first Gulf War. One engine gone, half the tail gone, and a good chunk of the wing on the same side was gone. All that and the plane was full of holes. Those planes were designed with redundanc because they new that on a straffing run at the slow speed vs. modern ground to air weapons that it was going to be a bullet magnet.

A-10's are the modern ages B-17...

Most of the fighter airframes that the US posses are extraordiary to what most civies can comprehend. With 21 years living on or in an AF base you get to see some pretty amazing stuff. As an active duty AF member I am privy to some unusual "safety videos" during our many safety classes.

I was a first hand witness to the latest Thunder bird crash that ocurred at Mountian home AFB ID. The pilot was doing a routine back flip roll kinda thing and misjudged his height. He actually punched his chute about 15 feet from hitting the pavement!!!

Cool vid!

I also had the Hover craft and the Sky Hawk. My bud had the Dragon Fly. All of that was before GI Joe toys got cheep, I remeber when you would open a GI Joe toy there would be a load of stickers and parts. Than they went to no stickers and Neon parts.
