Isnt that the kind of jetpack that Mythbusters said was impossible to get liftoff?

whoops!

Still, didn't seem very usable. However, if the bugs get worked out, it might have a much farther range then those 30-second packs from the 1970s

Looks like ducted fans, are they really jet engines?

Even so, this one is still not stable enough, they needed 2 guys to keep it in place. I think jetpack international already has a flying model, but i think their flight time is only a couple seconds. YouTube - Jet Pack - Flight 3

No they are just big old fans. A 200hp 2 stroke runs them. 5 gallon tank, 10GPH consumption would give a half hour flight. Not bad I guess.

They really need gyro's and louvres on that thing to stabilize it.

I'd still fly around in it for the fun of it.

My boss was there; he said it was the lamest spectacle he has ever seen. A huge crowd for some loud contraption that needs to be stabilized by two peons? I would have to side with my boss on this one...

I don't see why that run had a crowd... I would have saved the crowd showing for when I get it to actually FLY not just float with help.
