I need to start reloading. .300 WSM is some expensive ammo at ~ $30 per box of 20. When did the price on 7.62x39 jack up? We have been working off of a 1000 round case for ages, and we are down to ~ 80 rounds now.

Me? I'm down to "only" 3 presses - gotta have 2 backups, in case I have problems with the Utramag!

Next step is to get a MasterCaster, as I have 15 Magma pattern molds waiting for one...

3 good guesses

1. The feds started to crack down on the cheap steel core stuff after they saw a couple companies sell krink pistols, and thus it became an "armor piercing" handgun round, and a big no-no.

2. Both the terrorists and the new Iraq army are using AK's, someone has to supply them and Wolf is going to go after huge military contracts before the shooters in the US.

3. Hugo Chavez recently ordered a few million AK's and a bunch of other weapons down to Venezuela (Next stop Cuba, but that's my gut feeling), something has to feed that many guns when he is training his "volunteer" militia.

now..

Some of the price increase is due to the fact that copper prices went up. The jacketing for your rounds. And the cost of fuel. The fuel charges to ship stuff went up. So you as the consumer get the shaft.

I've only got 3 presses as well. My hand held Lee, single stage bench mounted lee, and my baby the Dillon 550B. I need to take a pic.

The price on Brass and Copper have been really high for a couple years now... why.. well some body has to make da bullets!

Really it all comes down to the "War Effort" a lot of brass and copper goes into all those bullets... so the supply is down, the demand is high so the price is high. And since the "War Effort" is getting a lot of bullets, what little is coming to us is at a higher cost.

Damn war.

But then again, Wolf doesnt use all that much brass since they make a bunch of steel cased rounds...

But it all adds up

Lesson?

Shoot a 22

Christ Azzy... i'll side tap the damn thing for you. If you are in a damn hurry I'll do it over thanksgiving when I'm up at my parents. then all you need to do is put a brass disc with a seal on it down into the chamber before you drop the valve in. Unless you are thinking of going another route?
