She read the vote counts and for that little pause in there I bet she was thinking 'Oh s@*t, we have to go through more of this.'

awsomeness it needs to be better before passing anyways.

Bush and a host of leading congressional figures had implored the lawmakers to pass the legislation despite howls of protest from their constituents back home. Despite pressure from supporters, not enough members were willing to take the political risk just five weeks before an election.

Ample no votes came from both the Democratic and Republican sides of the aisle. More than two-thirds of Republicans and 40 percent of Democrats opposed the bill.

You know they are getting something like 300:1 against calls from voters on this bill. Seems like some of the less arragont ones listened to the people that put them in office there's a first for everything.

That's the first thing I heard this morning while enjoying my rasin bran. How is it that all this stuff is happening over night? Typically you can't get anything done during the day and these companies are changing hands overnight.

I heard 100:1
However, it is the 1 with all the donation money that will actually be heard.

Yeah. Wachovia was fine until Thursday/Friday when it became the next target of panic. Wachovia is actually fairly sound and did not have a large stake in subprime mortgage. Consolidation will be huge in the near future.
