How does giving banks 700,000,000,000 solve anything?

Let's not get this turned into a political debate but I'd just like to know...

It keeps them afloat long enough for the government to hold hearings, decide who's fault it is, drag them all in front of camera's and have the media tell the sheeple that everything will be okay now.

In reality, it's nothing more than a stopgap measure, kind of like those silly rebate checks last year, they're hoping that doing this will prevent the rest of the companies involved from collapsing, which would take significant chunks out of most sections of the economy.

Yes, but my father brought up a good point...Why not spread that throughout the community with a condition that it is used to pay off part of the house you have money taken out on...Say a few thousand dollars?

Sigh, I just don't like how these banks are getting golden parachutes for their screw ups.

You're confusing communism with socialism, two entirely different concepts.

Besides, this is not communism or socialism, this is flat out capitalism. If you ever look into it, the Federal Reserve is not wholly run by the gov't, but is a bank in it's own right...
