Internet connection related question(s)

So last night around 8pm I was unable to connect to MCB. Keppt trying off and on until 9pm when I sent an email via Vintage Rex (which I still could access.) Tried checking a few other forums and I couldnt load those either, I was however able to load the underground mod shop forums. So them this morning nothing would load. Upon more diging on my end I found that my comper was attemting to dial a connection (i have broadband) Fixed that now everything works. What I dont understand is why last night some sites worked and others didnt, and why this morning nothing would, and how my settings changed automaticly. Im running XP also if that helps.

You were likely viewing cached versions of some sites. Your browser will play tricks on you like that if your connection is down.

My I loose my connection, I'll often not realize it right away because of the cache.

A few weeks ago, the connection died, and I went to the Tinkers Guild. Everything look right, except the posts were 2 weeks old!

However, could be more related to network latency. The attemps to auto-dial might have been drastically slowing down the network. So slow that perhaps the bandwidth heavy forums timed out while waiting for a server response.

Perhaps, then, the UMS forum did not require 2-way network traffic, or small bandwidth footprint, or perhaps its graphics were already cached?
