^^^ good call blackrain. the worst part is that nothing will actually get done. falling behind on campaign promises is nothing new, but honestly the only change we will see is a repeal of roe vs wade and expansion of govt spending. no universal healthcare, no end to the war, and worse of all the first lady carries the bigotry that this nation has spent 50 years trying to heal. As someone who has served in the military, I take personal offense to Obama's refusal to salute the flag. God help us all, God save America |

Bah, we were heading to hell in a handbasket either way. Now we just have to find out what rights we're keeping, what we're losing, and if it accelerates or plateaus. Concentrate on your state reps, guys. They're what's going to keep us afloat if anything does. It makes me wish Ron Paul had made it into the race. I'm a moderate, and wouldn't vote for McCain if they had a more 'easy' democrat in right now, but Obama's just run to the left and used the line as a pole vault. Edit: The elections are cyclical. They generally go for one party until they fark it up, then flip to the other until those guys crap in the books, ad infinitum. Post-edit: Mongoose is right; nothing's improving. At best, the economy plateaus. But it will be impossible to pull out of the sandbox within four years, and there's just no way to implement universal healthcare (which I think would be good, if done right) in the next four or eight years, and twice that at least until it's stable. And those of us in Florida or California will likely never have acceptable healthcare, considering the people that would take advantage of the plan the way it's roughly planned right now.

Our national debt is beyond repair or repayment, and even if we get a surplus we still can't 100% pay back the Fed. Rsrv. So might as well melt the plastic on the credit card and enjoy the sweet big screen TV! ![]() That flag comment is silly and erroneous hate mongering. It's not changing.

On the flip side, there are some positive points. with the economy in the can, we can probably expect aggletts to throw less paint at us. I was a bit on the worried side about McCain recalling me to active duty (inactive reserve) and I was worried about my fellow sailors, soldiers, and reservists getting shafted more than they already have. While they might not get home anytime soon, extended tours will probably not be as bad as they have been. Pulling out of a country is more dangerous than going in (see Vietnam), and that worries me. |
