I am watching these on about three channels and following a couple of the online maps. Can someone please explain to me how a state like Michigan could be "called" for Obama when the current count shows McCain in the lead by 5%? When they called NJ for Obama, the announced percentage favored McCain also. Perhaps they are spinning based on which precincts have actually been measured and what each precinct did in the past, but it surely erodes the credibility of all this early calling nonsense when the numbers are all they show you. Election night always reminds me of playing Risk. Anyone else drinking?

I wish I was doing it heavily so. The only place that will take my chipped ID closed fifteen minutes ago and I only thought to get booze an hour ago. Bear in mind that it's an hour's walk and I'm the only one home, it makes things a bit of a bitch.

Drinking George Dickel Whiskey, and not wathcing tha results. After I saw that they were calling states with 1% of precincts reporting, and calling for the opposing candidate when they were behind, I decided it would be more productive to drink.

Okay... this is ridiculous imho. Even if it turns out to be true, I think it is irresponsible for CBS to already be calling this election for Obama. Just amazing really... None of the other channels, nor the online maps I am watching seem to agree and yet CBS is already throwing that out there. Takes some of the fun out of an election, if you ask me. D
