What cell phone to buy?

Well I am in the market for a new phone. My razor kicked the bucket and Im currently using my old Samsung. My current provider is T-Mobile but my contract is almost up so I might go to another provider. Im looking for something with all the bells and whistles and still a decent monthy charge. Any suggestions?

I've had Palms for years and I've been looking at the Palm Centro recently. Cheap and pretty much a Trio. If I wasn't looking at 2 Palms right now I'd probably already have one. Plus there's thousands of great programs for Palms.

If I had T-Mobile though, I think I would spring for a Google G1.

Does it do what you want it to do? Unless your new contract gets you better service or lower prices, stick with the phone you are using. Or buy a nice used one.

My phone is dead. The screen blacked out. Im using and old Samsung that shuts of when fully charged and just at random moments. Its time for an upgrade but I don't know where to start. I hate going to the cell phone stores to ask questions. The sales clerks are worse than used car salesmen.

I look for a phone that has what I want (howard forums is a great source of info) and then buy it on ebay.

No contract for over 6 years with Verizon. They sem to be more helpful when dealing with them as well because you dont have to stick with them.

I swear by my Samsung phones. Love 'em. Had 3 and they've all performed very well. Solid little machines.

That said, it all depends on what you wanna do. Azzy's got a good idea about ebay.

I have T-mobile and don't really want to switch. Their plans are pretty darn good.

I'd recommend renewing the contract and getting the G1. Great phone, all the bells and whistles, and the additional data plan charge is not bad at all.

I tend to shy away from Palm handsets, specifically the one's running their software. The Palm OS is just too old, too bland and too much of a pocket organizer instead of a phone. That being said, their newer handsets running Windows Mobile 6.1 are very nice units. Samsung also makes a very good product, although when they have one that is bad, it's really bad. The nice thing about buying GSM handsets is that there are no worries about stolen equipment or past bills like the CDMA phones. You just pop in your SIM and you're good to go!

The wife works in Customer relations for AT&T and they use this site a lot for information on what cell phones to recommend.
