| Active Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Southern Illinois | Bersa Thunder .380 Anyone have one of these? How about CCW? Reviews seem to be pretty positive and the quality is supposed to be great for the money. I got to hold one today at a store and I found it really comfy for the small size. I figure shooting to be a breeze because of the small caliber but how about "shootability". And yes, this is basically a Walther PPK knockoff from Argentina. Welcome to Eagle Imports Inc. |

Shoot it a bit first, even their fans have gotten lemons. But they're cheap, have a great warranty, and once they're broken in shoot great. Awesome bang for the buck, as it were. If you have the option, also check out the UC9 by them. Not much more expensive, a locked breech design that will calm the slightly harsher round, and they hold more. Plus, for CC, they're only slightly thicker but so comfortable, and IIRC actually a little shorter.

And, if you believe all that stuff about the big Nazis fleeing to South America after WW2, you might even have a direct descendant. Alas, the Walther PPK-S, a U.S. made piece of garbage, is the only Walther PPK that you can get in .380. If you are carrying it for CCW purposes, two things; 1. Buy some kickass ammunition for it when you are buying your bulk fmj for practice. Some high speed, light weight Cor-Bon or some of the other quality hollow point ammo is just what these guns need to be really pretty effective manstoppers. 2. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT read any handgun magazines or any magazines related to guns. These rags thrive on making people feel outgunned and underarmed and if you read any of them, before long you will be trying to figure out how to conceal a .44 magnum under a t-shirt and shorts without ramming it up your ***. You heard it here first.

I'd reccomend getting the PPK or Sig instead because they will be good guns and work well, this may or may not. Also listen to Drum, get some good ammo(COR-BON) for it, don't skimp on what you carry for protection. A .380 with good ammo is an excelent choice for a self defence weapon.

| Post Whore Join Date: May 2006 Location: Valrico, Florida | For ammo, I'm a fan of Gold Dot (9mm and up), Cor-Bon DPX for .380, and an all-around Federal fan. Hollowpoints--Federal HST is some pretty wicked stuff. Your piece doesn't feed hollowpoints? They make an expanding FMJ, that blazes right through the thickest clothing and then expands to the range of some of the respectable JHP's. As for the design, Bersas are a near-but-not-exact copy, that (general consensus by owners) don't have any major issues once they'r broken in. The actual PPK tends to have some bad points that really should have been worked out. Going to grab an LCP myself, or a kel-tec.
