you think you got it bad.... here in the U.K fuel(petrol) cost 3x what you guys pay...70% of which goes to the government in taxes.

try living here.

extact from a local council about the cost of road re-surfacing ie pot-holes

* Surface dressing - Bitumen and chippings are used to restore skidding resistance and seal the road against surface water every five to seven years and costs around £1 per square metre
* Planing - The old top layer is replaced with new material and costs between £3 and £5 per square metre
* Total reconstruction - This fundamental rebuilding of a road costs £9 per square metre

f@ck all is spent on our roads and the average car owner has too fork out an average of £170($265)/year just to drive a car on the roads, and if you don't pay this and drive your car and end up getting caught....the pigs crush your car.

Sooooooo...keep gas taxes down and let the roads go to crap and have people spend more on fixing tires, suspensions etc, or raise taxes and keep the road somewhat decent with less wear and tear on the cars.

I honestly think one of the problems these days is that people can't see beyond their own noses. People need simplistic George W. Bush type answers, not real long term solutions.
You do realize that people having bent rims and raising fuel taxes are not really related in any way right? Governments have had plenty of money to fix roads and bridges. They just chose to fund other more useless projects like the arts.

haha "mate" I like your slang!

"Toss another shrimp on the bar-b!"

I couldn't get over the women in London, nor their lack of suitable male counterparts...women there were like shooting fish in a barrel, so much so that I asked my wife if I could 'pretty please' try and pick up...yeah, it took like 3 minutes... AWESOME! too bad I couldn't bring her back to the hotel...

wouldn't say 'mate' was slang exactly...more a pleasantry....,now if I was to say ' I broke my Gregory when i slipped down the apple and pears and had a bull and cow with the trouble and strife when I left a pen and ink in the toilet'... that would be slang..(cockney slang)..

any ideas..??

lol
