This reminds me of something I did when I was much younger. My parents live on a non-working farm (aka we aren't farmers) but we have some livestock for hobby and eating purposes. Anyway, I was practicing with a baitcaster in the back yard (just a weight and a neon green bass tube so I could see it, no hook) and noticed that some of the turkeys that we had running loose took an interest. I spent a while "fishing" for the turkeys after that. It was kind of funny watching a huge turkey chase and grab that green tube. They weren't terribly energetic game though.

My mother used to use Bio-degrad-edibal ammo. Lemmon drops fired from a wristrocket.

We tried a lot of stuff to keep em from bird feeders but a lemmon drop bounced off their noggin was the best (in town).

Obscure reference: The janitor on the TV show Scrubs had a "squirrel army" (he bagged, stuffed and named over 100 squirrels) that he traded for a stuffed yellow lab that Turk's wife lost.

Best scenes were when the janitor brought his decisions to committee and presided over a meeting with all the squirrels. And the introduction of new "members" that he aquired throughout the show.

they're not "squirrells" they're "squills".

Gotta have the proper terminology to go "squill huntin'"
