For all the forty plus crowd here...

Take a few minutes to try this, you may be surprised by the results.

This was developed as an age test by an R&D department at Harvard
University. Take your time and see if you can read each line aloud

without

a mistake. The average person over 40 years of age can't do it!

1. This is this cat
2. This is is cat
3. This is how cat
4. This is to cat
5. This is keep cat
6. This is an cat
7. This is old cat
8. This is fart cat
9. This is busy cat
10.This is for cat
11.This is forty cat
12. This is seconds cat

Now go back and read aloud the third word in each line from the top

down

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

Yeah, I got that in an e-mail this morning. And yes, it was sent from and to paintball folks.

I would like to say something but there is simply no good way to say it without someone taking offense or thinking I am being a “stick in the mud”, but here goes….

For those of you who feel the need to put people on a list and send things like that… please take me off your lists. And NEVER send a list with all members clearly shown. Use the CC function if you must send mass e-mails.

One of the biggest ways virus’ get spread is by these types of mailings. And I get in enough e-mail throughout the day and don’t need these types of things being sent as well. By all means if there is something important to share feel free to add me to your list, but for these spam type e-mails I would simply prefer to be left “out of the loop”. I don’t feel insulted by not getting them, and would prefer not to.

Thanks.

You mean BCC.

I just take care of it myself, I have 3 or 4 e-mail address' going at once. I make a new one every few months. I slowly migrate over to newer e-mails as the older ones start getting full of spam and other junk e-mails, and eventually the oldest ones stop getting used. I've been doing this for a few years and it works well.

One of the ways to get people to take you off the lists is when they send you urban legend e-mails, and you click "reply all" and send everyone the snopes article debunking it. And you don't want to know what I write when people send me cutsy "glory to god" e-mails

BCC stands for "Blind Carbon Copy" and goes back to the days of typewriters. You must remember those Jack...or did you use a clay tablet back in the day

on some of my emails I get at home, that has gotten out to many folks on my church community that for some reason want to forward all their "Christian" forwards - and for anyone else that uses those addresses - they get this automated email response:
Quote:
This is an automated response.

You have apparently sent a "Forwarded" email. Because of the number of emails I recieve, any Forwards will be automaticaly deleted. If you feel that the information you are trying to send me is something I need to see, please "clean up" the email and then send it to me again. For more information on proper use of email, please refer to a paper I wrote about the subject:
http://www.citylifeworshipcenter.org/RP/EMailUse.pdf
or
http://www.citylifeworshipcenter.org/RP/EMailUse.doc

thank you for your patience and kind understanding.

Thanks for the enlightenment Jaan. I found your advice usefull.
RP, I also want to thank you for reminding me of how complicated computing was like before I started with Fire fox. It basically protects me from viruses that neither Internet Explorer, and the anti virus protection programs installed on my pc had problems with.

I've always felt that not everyone appreciated to have their email address revealed by other recipients in mass mailings, and unless you have specific permission to give it out, it is not good etiquette. I just never had any idea that the BCC feature would help in this case. Now I know how I can keep my friends all to my self.
