There is a medical procedure that they can do to help stop nose bleeds. I used to get a lot as a kid and there was talk of that. They'd burn a blood vessal in the nose I guess. Might want to see a doctor if they happen every day and they're bad.

I generally used to use ice to clot the nose bleeds. May not be too good for a dry nose though. But it's fun to hack up a giant blood clot when it's all over as a 10 year old.

This is what we do with paper towels at boxing, Muay Thai, and jui jitsu classes. Saves a lot of effort and allows you to continue on. Minus the blowing part-- usually have some overhang (and papertowels are less likely to ball up and away like tissues).

If your nosebleeds are from a dry nose (nasal tissue) do not cram an absorbant paper product up your nose... kind of counter intuitive towards the goal of protecting the dry skin... even if it is bleeding.... you can use a tissue or p.t. just don't ram it up there like you are loading a flintlock with wadding..... you chuckle heads.

^^^ Note: The paper towels are to stop the bleeding, not as a maintenance method.

NOte.... I know.... the problem is you've rammed a very dry, moisture absorbing paper towel into your nose and it's probably touching most of the interior of your nose...when the bleeding was caused by DRY skin.... it's just abbrassive and can do more damage.

That was another one that my doctor threatened to smack me upside the head for. "Don't stick tissues or paper towels up your nose, Erik! It damages the skin further and can make it bleed more!!!!"

PS - It's also ok to rinse your nose when it's bleeding with very cold (ice) water... constricts the vessels and slows the bleeding. That's a hell of a lot better than using cotton/paper wadding in preparation for sticking a projectile up your nose

I rammed a corn husk up my nose to stop the bleeding one time. That hurt.

I used to have the same problem (Had one that lasted more than 15 minutes)
What's weird is it took me moving to Las Vegas an then back to MA to get rid of them, you'd think that it would have been worse with the dry air in Nevada.

If it gets too frequent and problematic, they can cauterize the affected blood vessels. It was offered to me a few times, but I do not like unnecessary surgical procedures. Luckily I either grew out of the problem or my environment changed enough it did not matter.
