So I ran my first 5k race on Saturday

The results are in:
Time: 30:22
Pace: 9:48
MPH: 6.125

Complete Results on this page

Now while I could have definately run a bit faster, and I have on my tread mill
Those hills are what did me in. I definately need to practice outdoors!

That, and man, I'm sore.

Good stuff, you nut!

How did you fair throughout? (Like what was the point that you had to dig for the last bit, or didnt that point come?)

Well, I had about a 7 MPH pace in the beginning, as there was 600 people and it took me a bit to get to the start and really get running. So my stats are definately off because of that.

Around 2.5 miles I thought that this sucked as people were saying.. "The finish is just around the corner". Bollocks. Not even close. So that kept the motivation low.

I probably could have run another 2 miles if I had to. I need to train my body better so I can lose some poundage, and learn how far a 5k is, so I can push it harder. If I can do those two, I should be able to keep up with my wife. Who ran it in about 23 minutes.

Great going,
If I could train my body not to have a heart attack, I think it might be fun.

Good job!

Anything that makes you happy and healthy. I personally HATE running, even though I used to be darn good at it. 5K would have been a bit short for me back in the day though since I ran 8 miles a day with little to no effort; and at a fast pace (remember, I hate running, so the faster you run the quicker it is over… LOL). Now? LOL I am sure my legs would be yelling at me with only a mile. I am into lifting as opposed to running now.

I should start running again though just to get ready for next paintball season.

Keep it up Carter!

Most Excellent Carter!

I used to run sub 18 minute 5k's..... but that was over 10 years ago when I was 3 inches shorter, 30 lbs lighter and had been running competetively in high school.

I know I couldn't even come close to that now with out some one hitting me with a cattle prod the entire race.
