Yea... My old domain name came up for sale

I just re-purchased the old smgog.com the SMG Owners Group. Which I lost because I changed old hosts (way way way back) and they went out of business, and sold my domain renewals to some large conglomerate and I couldn't renew and lost out.

Well, I just bought it back! I doubt we'll see an SMG revival, but I still have the old site, and may just toss it back up for the fun of it. Or just forward it here.

Either way, I like owning these sites... We seem to be loosing our domain names to these large companies that do nothing with them, but put up a junk page with "related searches".

Anyhow.. I'm happy!!!

SMGOG sub forum? With a page or two of information, including but not limited to, history, production, .62 cal paint issues, the short lived SMG 55 cal conversion, MCBTV SMG specific episode, ect?

I've heard rumors that some companies watch what domain names people are looking into, buy them up for a few days (some kind of loophole they're exploiting) and then see if there is any interest in that domain name. If there is (because of some new fashion trend or what not) then they keep the name and sell it at a profit. I think SMG owners group is safe for now though (c:

I'll join.
I would have long ago, but I've had the SMG's a lot longer than I've had a komputer. By the time I found that site, it was just a ghost.

Glad you got it back.

With the exception of around the time of the BGNW paint run I think SMOG was always a ghost for the most part. Most people (myself included) just wandered over to MCB, granted it wasnt that much bach then either (think we had under 100 registered users and less than 30 active ones, of whom the most ever online was somthing like 17 or 23 or something absurdly low, and hats only been like what 4 years ago? Man we have grown)

It's called cybersquatting. They're allowed to buy the domains and sell them for profit, but are not allowed to create them if they have no relevance... supposedly. I think it's bull, but hey, people are allowed to make money in cynical ways...

I hope you put the site back up. I'd like to see it.

I think it should live again. With info and links to related sights (MCB, Vintage Rex, and if it goes back up SMG55) Do it like Chris did with VM68 let people post pics and reviews and stuff like that. Congrats on getting it back.
