Car Title has the wrong VIN

Is that any issue? It's not horribly wrong, but dyslexic...

Instead of starting with GHN5UXXXXX it says: HGN5UXXXXXX

Just the H and G is backwards. I'm assuming it's not a big deal. I gave my insurance guy the correct VIN, and my registration is now in the incorrect VIN.

It's not an original title, since the car is over 30 years old. Looks like the title was redone in 2002. I have a bill of sale, so I used that too when I got my registration.

Not selling anytime soon, but it's just one of those things I've never dealt with before.

Since you live in New Hampster, not a biggie. Interstate later sale when you realize you bought an English car, that's an issue......

looks like a nice one.... Too bad the big engine 'C' series never made it here.

It's the VIN on the registration/title/whatever that's flipped correct? I can't imagine that it's stamped incorrectly, but if it's wrong on the papers I might find out how hard it is to fix. I've had past issues with the DMV over very tiny things that became far too problematic.

Nice car BTW.

Thanks guys, yeah, just incorrect on the paperwork, not on the car. Looked up the car info, and it's correct on the car.

Breaking down the VIN, it tells me this:
Assembly: Abingdon, England
Make: MG
Engine: 1400cc to 2000cc
Body Type: 2 Seat Roadster
Series: Mark III (1970-1979)
Market: USA, Left Drive
Model Year: 1978

as long as the insurance is correct i wouldnt worry about it.. worse thing that happens is a cop notices and you can just say you never even noticed that but i doubt that would ever be an issue as its obvious what the vin is supposed to be. Its not like you blow torched the vin numbers then tried to make one up =P

Sorry Al, no idea. 4 speed.... Been busy so not too much time to tool around with it, but hopefully tonight I'll inspect it under the hood later.
