After shut down it has a slow drip of gas down the throat of the carb. Float/valve has a problem... It still felt good to drive it again though. Maybe I should just carry a big fire extinguisher...

Unfortunatly, they are not too practical with two kids and living in snow country. They are also a tad slow. Mine would hit 70mph coming down the mountain (everybody sing!) in Denver, CO. 40ish going up- slower still as the altitude increased. I'l like a double cab Transporter, 21/ 23 window bus with Safari windshields, a Bug with the ragtop sunroof, a "Thing"..... I get a " Hot VW's " magazine a couple of times a year and enjoy how people trick out their rides. Parts and upgrades are not too expensive for them. They're just not too populuar in the NE, it seems. One of these years.... |

| Active Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Durham, NC | That's slow man. Mine would (and I assume still will) go 90 on flat road. I have payed more attention to the carb now and all seems good. Right after shut-down it trickles some gas into the throat, but slows quickly enough that I assume it is designed to do that. Plus it was rear downhill, and the amount coming out could have been the excess above the valve, running out. Rear uphill it doesn't do it. I pulled out the driver's side window because the regulator was rusty and screwed (gear slipping), so now it has no window in it. Only a forty something dollar fix. So... anyone want to buy a paintball gun to fund a Beetle in need?
