You should always stick with Sigs and Glocks because they will always shoot, so to that end I'll have to vote for the Glock.

Edit: If you haven't already you should deffinatly look at the Sig 226 before ordering the Glock just to weigh all the options out.

Fan of EMR
Sig FTW
I was never a fan of glocks. They look like crap, feel like crap, and to me, shoot like crap.

Obviously you can't believe everything you read on the net, but I've read many of these in different places..

Glock 21 Torture Test - Theprepared.com

That's why I'd pick a Glock every time

My Sig was the most accurate pistol out of the box I ever shot (over my Kimber, various Glocks, S+W, and Kel-tec (big surprise huh). That being said I could never come to carry it - just a touch on the too large / too heavy side to use as a concealed weapon

Then again my opinion may be a bit off - I own three Glocks - G20 (10MM), G19C (compensated 9MM), G26 (carry 9MM). I also own a Kimber and a S+W snubbie I use for carry.

A few things. You want to compare the G17 to XD 9mm I assuming? I have shot G17, G19, and XD-45 Service model. No 9mm experience in the XD. I like the XD and if I bought one it would be the tactical 45 model hands down. However a SA Loaded 45 currently sits in the safe and that's the only 45 pistol I'll ever own. Can't beat real steal! - and you know that with your Kimber. For a 9mm pistol, I was sold on Glock. Before you decide, look into used G17s. People buy and trade them in all the time and generally are in really good shape. I basically bought my 17 for $100 less than brand new and it was perfect - and I mean perfect. It was bought by a cop for his wife and she hardly/never shot it. You can find nice used models and save some money. Lastly, I landed up selling my 17 to a friend and getting a 19 to replace it - and I'm glad I did! After owning both, the compactness of the 19 is just perfect IMO. Take a long look at that before you buy.

Durring the winter I carry my Sig 250 because with a jacket on its not a big deal, but I do have to down size to my Sig 230 durring the warmer months. Every Sig I've ever shot has been super accurate and had a great feel to them. Glocks are good guns, but I can't stand the feel of the grip angle.

I had switched out of my Kimber Custom Carry one day when I pulled it out and found the safety had disengaged itself while carrying. I went to a S+W airweight .38. I really liked the gun but it took A LOT of practice to be able to hit out to the 20 yard (yes, yard) mark. Granted its well past the 7 yards that the CCW instructors want up here but I wanted to know if I could.

I rented a Glock 26 on a whim one day to let my girlfriend try it out as she HATED the revolver. I ran the target out to the same distance and proceeded to emtpy the clip on a gun I was not familiar with all within the 8 ring at 20 yards. SERVICE ACCURACY (no, it did not compare to my first day shooting my Sig). I bought my first Glock that day after hating them for a long time. I have bought others since then (the 19C is really for her to shoot).

That being said my mind is toying with the idea of going to a 357 revolver or a Para LDA in 45. If Para offered the LDA in 10MM I would have one - it overcomes the only problem I have with the 45 and thats its lack of usefullness as a trail gun. I overcome it in my G26 by switching it out to my G20 when hiking.

I like Glocks - there like an old 305 Chevy. There are a lof of things out there that have far better performance and look a lot better. However, if you do even minimal maintenance it will work when you need it to and work well enough to get the job done.
