Honestly folks, the XD IS a glock in function and dependability but with all the good things made better. So those that are glock-only should be so only if they are so used to a glock that a change in feel towards the positive would still throw them off.

I have an XD40 (and .40 S&W is essentially the same as the 10mm someone else mentioned, so yes the XD DOES offer that model, not just 9mm and .45) as my day-to-day concealed carry, in 4" model. Really solid gun.

For those looking at ease of use in carry, just carry with a round in the chamber. It should always be IN a holster anyway, so the trigger ought to be covered until it comes out on the draw. So no worrying about an accidental discharge. If the backstrap safety is not disengaged (and properly gripping the gun WILL disengage the safety, just like pulling the trigger will disengage the trigger safety) the firing block won't even move forward, so from a safety perspective it's even MORE safe than a glock is.

Yah, Brass they tried and tried at the shop before I came up here for me to try one on the range. Couldn't hit a broadside of a barn standing next to it. For some reason I can pick up a 19, 21 or any other model and hit darn near the exact same spot time, after time again. Yea, I've owned others from smith&wesson and others. I guess some makers are more fitted than others. The only one that has came close is the FN 57 for me.

It all depends on the fit of the gun to your hand. Glocks feel weird to me, but I love my XD40. Of course, I've never shot a Glock....hmmm, have to fix that soon at the range!
