Total side note, but a buddy of mine works as a consultant for deloitte, and is working on a bunch of military bases for the next few months. He knows nothing about mma but knows I love it. He shot me a text yesterday. He was at fort lee and was at an Army ultimate warrior event, and spent the day hanging out with a guy he thought was name Horace from Brazil who he knew was a bit of a big deal.

Turns out it was Royce Gracie, who was there for the event and he had been pronouncing/misunderstanding his name all day. Royalty in MMA and my buddy had no clue. Cool that Royce would come in for an Army event like that.

He does a lot of stuff for the military, I've seen him/been tapped by him twice when he was doing clinics for us.

You cant hate on Kimbo becuase some dbags blew him up to fast. In all reality they threw him into the pit with hungry snakes with only his street cred. A lot of these other guys have had the time, or money to train with big camps while Kimbo is on the street making money however to feed himself and family. He is a fighter and not a mma yet like he even said. KSlice did not do what he knows on wensday and thats let the bombs go. Looks to me he was thinking to much and worried about mma instead of fighting. He is humble and a bad mofo regardless. I respect every fighter who steps into the cage win lose draw or dbags blowin them into a giant when they are still green.

I have many friends that I went to college with or grew up with that have got thier azz beat and have not done much in the IFL or UFC and had all kinds of training. Josh Haynes, Mike Whitehead, Devon Cole, and a few other names that have a huge background. I have myself done some smokers(amatuer fights) and even though I am 4-0 I would never consider myself anyhthing but a hobbyist of the game. Nor would I ever disrespect another fighter. I hate when people talk sh1t or boo fighters when all they do is drink beer and watch or go to the keyoard and talk about how sh1tty these fighters are. Fine to give Opinions but to never put your neck on the line and badmouth fighters is just music with no sounds.

Do I think he got a early shot at they belt? Yes but he given the chance did something with it and now holds it as the champ. He is beatable but it wont be a walk in the park for the next man. The heavy division is kind of treading water at the moment but will be back soon enough flooded with better fighters.

I only wish Fedor would have signed, but he has his reasons and I respect him to sticking to his guns on what he believes...

I never really post to these UFC/MMA threads becuase its just opinions and never really means much but one thing I could say is have some respect for the guys that make the sport what it is that you enjoy to watch.

Don't assume that those posting have no background or education in the field...

Before the Gracies we simply called "MMA" by the jujitsu term "shia", or the sub/ wrestling term "shootfighting" or "shooting".

I started wrestling in 1985, got my taekwondo dan in 1996 and cross trained in danzan ryu jujitsu, and kajukenbo. I also fancy myself a bit of a boxing historian. I am no hack when the subject of sport fighting comes up. i am very comfortable talking history and theory.

I am not "hating on" Kimbo Slice. I am not entertained by his pro fights. I disapprove of the whole youtube/ sublimedirectory internet "streetfighting" thing. I am very wary of his manager Mike Ember. Porn managers don't have a history of looking out for their talents best interests. The whole situation looks as sleazy and smarmy as boxing did 100 years ago.

I sincerely hope that we aren't talking about bankrupt or destitute Kimbo in 10 years.

after watching the Episode...I am not shocked. Striker goes to the ground...and loses.


I still think that even with a few years of training a Ground based fighter will still be able to shoot in and take him to the ground and dominate. I LOVE strikers...and LOVE to watch the K.O's...but too many strikers fall into old,bad habits and get owned on the ground. I believe the future of the sport will be dominated by Ground fighters who learn to strike...and not the other way around.


good thing is...right or wrong...I still get to watch good fights.
