it's been mighty cold here in nebraska for some time. that kitty was frozen solid. if you can't see, the kitty is caught in a trap. knowing the kid, i believe it was baited. GRRRRRRRRR!!!

Call animal control. Then see if you can walk him past a dark alley where the boogie man lives.

I know lots of people that would do that... My garage door does a good job of it too.

Trapping a cat is odd though... what a dick.

thats almost as bad as the two links I received this AM containing footage of our troops in iraq, shooting/wounding dogs for entertainment. People who are cruel to animals really need to have their heads removed with a rusty drywall saw!

Was it a feral cat causing trouble? Or was it just a cruel prank?

Shooting stray dogs in urban areas is actually a good thing, they bite people, they are usually very diseased, and unhealthy, and usually cause alot of trouble for homeless people.

Everyone has this mental picture of Little orphan annie and the stray she had, this isn't the case for most real strays. They are viscious mongrels that need to be dealt with.

If you don't have adequate animal control in an urban area, you need to have people shoot them.

Have any of you had to deal with a mad dog before?

We had one show up at the school I attended in El Paso, it was skeletal, nipping and biting at the air, growling, and staggaring around, foaming at the mouth. It looked possesed. Animal control showed up, and guess what? They shot it.

The thing was put out of his misery, and thank God none of the kids were hurt by it.

Feral cats are the same, much like razzorbacks, these are animals that aren't supposed to be wild, don't belong in the ecosystem, and need to be dealt with.

Now, I would say one should try to be as humane as possible, (make the death as quick and painless as possible) and I deplore traps that don't instantly kill the prey, but to say that there is no reason?

I guess I would have asked the kid about it, and if he was being a jerk (jerk meaning getting his jollies off torturing a cat), let him know that being a jerk isn't tolerated, maybe get him accidently cought in one of his own traps. see how he likes it. .

Call the aspca, send of the pictures and give the address.
They will send somebody out to take care of the problem.
That is cruelty to animals, which causes a bunch of headachs for the culprits

Sorry bro, but in most urban areas it is illegal to discharge a pellet gun, let alone a firearm, or hunt, which is what it is considered, even if you are doing your town a "favor" by ridding it of vermon infested feral animals.

Whacking feral animals is the job of animal control in big cities...outside cities in rural areas it's still questionable as to legallity of it.

It's called the "shoot, shovel, and shut up" plan.
A bigger problem around here is people trying run over cats. Also, law enforcement here isn't going to make a big deal out of someone killing a cat when they are trying to bust teenagers for drinking.

Yes, the 3 S plan. I would ask the dude, give him my opinion of it, and leave the situation away form teh ASPCA or other organisation like that.

It may have been a feral cat as mentioned, but it looks like it was a pet, and that's just messed up.

It could of been an accident, and it was meant to be taken care of but was overlooked.
