Beer Drinker's thread

Hey guys...

I want this thread to be a place where we can discuss our favorite beers, what foods we pair them with, suggestions etc.

For example tonight's dinner of a home-made bacon pizza with smoke mozzerella and jalapenos, was paired exelently with 3 or 4 bells outmeal stouts.

Tomorrow I have the entire day to pick up cod: modern warfare2 and drink beer so I plan on drinking my Avery kaiser oktoberfest and a couple flying dog ire bite ales.

What are your favorite beers with different food, and what do you drink when you just wanna get a good buzz on?

When I go out it depends on what I order. I like sweet/salty combos, so I tend to order Leinenkugel's Berry Weiss or Wild Blue (if the bar has it) when I get bar food. If I just want a good buzz it's usually Coors Light.

Delerium is crazy good, theres a bar in town called RFD that usually has around 2000 beers in stock, and they carry all of the delerium beers. Ever have anything other then the tremens?

I'm no beer connaisseur, but my favorite style when I can get my hands on it is Barleywine. Otherwise, sometimes I'm in the mood for a stout, and sometimes I'm in the mood for a weiss. When I was in England (many years ago) I really enjoyed the hand pulled bitters (I read they were what we call IPA, but somehow they never tasted the same.)

Recently a friend turned me onto Hoegaarden which is available right across the street for me, so lately that is my "I need a drink" beer, if I'm not in the mood for straight rye.

I have never really paid much attention to pairing beer with food other than maybe following rules similar to wine. I choose a light tasting beer with chicken or fish in light sauces, and darkr, more tangy beers with beef or chicken in darker sauces.

Learning brewing now, so I can enjoy summer ale all year long. Currently Narragansett Lager Beer with any meat tastes great. Other night it was lamb. Yummy!

Theres a Beer resturant near the college we go there once a paycheck and try a new beer and nachos.

I love the Bitburger Blonde as I had it when I was in Germany 4 years ago. Brings back some great memories. Best part is they have taps at the tables(dangerous on the wallet though).

They have beer from all over the world its pretty neat.

Bistro Bier Wurst Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

You can see the taps and they have the menus there aswell.

Generally I'm an Alexander Keiths IPA man. "Those who like it, like it alot."
A Keiths and a good steak and lobster meal mmmmmmm my mouths watering thinking about it.

I just made a batch of pumpkin pie beer with a buddy. It took a little longer than planned and is my first 5 gallon batch, but I'm really looking forward to it.

When dad was stationed over there we had a 'Bitte ein Bit' table umbrella. For a while you could get it at some Class 6's, but I guess not anymore. They had it on rotation at Old Chicago a few years ago and I took a picture of it on the chalkboard they use for the rotation beers and sent it to my dad. I would have ordered some, but I didn't see it til we were leaving.

Me, I'm educating myself on the different types. I've had Beer for Dummies for a while, but never really read it. Now that I'm brewing I'm reading as much as I can when I have the time. I remembered about the book when there was a thread on here recently about mead and I realized that I knew nothing about it.
